How to Back Up and Restore a WordPress Site in Plesk

Step 1: Log in to Your Plesk Control Panel

Open your browser and go to:

https://yourdomain.com:8443

Log in with your Plesk username and password (provided by your hosting provider).

Step 2: Open WordPress Toolkit

  1. In the left-hand menu, click WordPress

  2. You’ll see a list of your WordPress sites

  3. Find the site you want to back up

Step 3: Create a Backup

  1. Click the arrow (▸) next to your site to expand the options

  2. Click Back Up / Restore

  3. In the Backup screen:

    • Give your backup a name (optional)

    • Choose what to include:

      • Files

      • Database

  4. Click Start

🕒 Wait a few minutes — Plesk will create a full snapshot of your site.

Step 4: Restore a WordPress Backup

If you ever need to restore your site:

  1. Go to WordPress Toolkit > Your Site > Back Up / Restore

  2. You’ll see a list of your backups

  3. Click Restore next to the backup you want

  4. Choose what to restore:

    • Files

    • Database

  5. Click Restore

Warning: Restoring a backup will overwrite your current site. Make sure you're restoring the correct version.


Step 5: Optional – Schedule Regular Backups (via Plesk Backup Manager)

If you want to automate backups:

  1. Go to Websites & Domains > Backup Manager

  2. Click Schedule

  3. Choose how often:

    • Daily, Weekly, or Monthly

  4. Set how many backups to keep

  5. Save the schedule

Your site will now back up automatically!
